Yum!

Coconut chicken curry with cheese naan. I've had a lot of Indo-curry on my mission but this was the best I've had yet.

Hey Everyone!
This week was great! We had a lot of miracles and fun experiences this week. We were able to meet with a college student named Uehara twice this week, it was great. At first he told us that although he likes the activities we have, he's not really interested in our message, so we told him that's ok, of course he can still come to activities and be our friend. But then we testified about how important the message is and how it can help you find purpose in life, and he said he actually did have some interest in the purpose of life. So we introduced the Plan of Salvation, and he said we could meet again to teach the whole thing. So we did and my companion asked some good questions and as he thought about it he realized how important it was. He said since it's such a good message he'd be scared if it wasn't true, but if it's true he'd better follow it. So he agreed to keep meeting and do what it takes to find out for himself if it's true. It was one of the best lessons I've ever been in. It was so cool to see them effect of the truth and the Spirit and see his heart change. And I know this gospel is true and I'm so grateful for that. I don't know what my life would be like without the hope and direction that comes from the gospel.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Everyone!
I hope you all had a fun, Christ-centered Easter! Here in Japan people barely even  know what Easter is, which is sad, but it was fun teaching people about it! We just said we were sharing a message about Easter and a lot of people were down to at least listen a little. Besides that this week was pretty uneventful, we had a lot of lessons fall through which was disappointing, but we were able to find a few people with interest which was great! The hardest thing is just helping them to continue to progress. A lot of people aren't keeping commitments which is kind of frustrating, but that's missionary work!
We also found three people from Finland and two of them came to a sports activity we had! They aren't super interested in the gospel but they're happy to come to activities and they're fun. Hopefully their interest will grow through more exposure to the church. They're way tall, especially compared to Japanese people, so they had a fun time playing basketball. I'll send a picture.

Hey Everyone!
This week was awesome! It's only been a few days since I last emailed but with zone conference and general conference it's been busy! Zone conference was great! We made a video with the zone about Easter, it ended up a little crazy but it was fun. We also had a karate night as a zone. My companion and I had interviews so we didn't participate but we watched for a bit and it looked fun. And then the actual conference part was amazing, President McClure talked a lot about having love as our motive, and about how knowing should lead to doing, and doing should lead to becoming. It's hard to explain simply but it was really cool and motivating. And then general conference was amazing! President Nelson's talk was so powerful! And Elder Uchtdorf's talk was also awesome, as a missionary hearing talks about missionary work is the best! Everyone please listen to that talk, it gives so many great tips about how to do member missionary work! We also were able to meet Yuga again, he's the kid who lived in Canada for four years. He showed us his hockey skills, he practices in his garage and he's really good. His family moved to Kushiro just so he could play hockey, it's pretty popular here, there's a professional team called the Cranes. He's pretty busy with hockey and school, but he said we could come visit again next Sunday so we're looking forward to that. We're also meeting with our 16 year old friend with a baptismal date tonight so hopefully that goes well! I think that's about it for this week, but have a great Easter everyone! I'm super excited! Make sure to make Christ the center of your Easter and your life! I know as you do you will feel true peace and joy.

Love,
Elder Burton

Hey Everyone!
This week was awesome! I'm having so much fun in Kushiro! We had more time this week so we went all over Kushiro looking for people to teach and we had a great time! We saw a helicopter take off from the top of a hospital, we saw a fox, a lot of birds, the ocean, and we had a karate night! And one of the people we found last week came to the karate night and we had a great lesson afterward! Before the lesson he read the introduction to the Book of Mormon and the testimony of Joseph Smith, and he said he liked it but couldn't really believe it. But we taught him about prophets and the restoration and prayer and he said he'll pray to know if it's true! He's a college student who seems to be really searching for answers so he's very prepared. We also on the same day we found him had another cool experience. We went into a neighborhood planning on knocking doors for a little while, and we walked past the first few houses until we came to a house that had a couple of really nice cars out front. My companion was like, "These are cool cars, let's knock on this house." So we did and a man answered, saw us, and told us to wait a minute and went back in. A couple minutes later a teenager walks out and says in perfect English, "I lived in Canada for four years so I speak English." We were way surprised, but we were able to talk with him and his mom, who also speaks English, and they had actually been looking for a Christian church in Kushiro! The son is going to go to America to play hockey in college if he can so his parents want him to learn about Christianity so we'll see how that goes. It was fun getting the chance to testify in English.
