Hey
Everyone!
I don't have a lot of time
today because we're going to Costco with the Von Forrell's, the senior office
couple, so this is going to be short but this week was great! We got three
referrals from other areas which was a huge miracle. Also, Takahashi San, the
person who came to church last week on his own, came to English class and to
church again yesterday! We haven't had a chance to teach him a full lesson yet
but we're going to on Wednesday. We also met with Watanabe San a few times this
week, but unfortunately he woke up late on Sunday and didn't come to church, so
we had to push back his baptismal date another week, so it'll be the 9th of
March. But he's still doing well and he'll be more prepared now which is good.
He had a cool experience where he prayed about some past hard experiences that
were part of why he's smoking, and he just forgot about why he was worrying
about them. God works in mysterious ways, hopefully now he'll be able to
overcome that problem.
We also had a lesson with
Kawamura San, he's the one who had a baptismal date a few weeks ago but didn't
make it. He's got a testimony but there's some challenges that he's facing and
we're trying to help him increase his faith and really trust that if he follows
God's commandments regardless of how hard it is he will be blessed and will be
happier. We watched a general conference talk with him from October 2017 called
"Do We Trust Him? Hard is Good" and it helped him a lot. I know that
as we trust God, we will find that there is no need to fear what others think
or the challenges in our lives. God will always prepare a way for us to
accomplish the things which He has commanded(see 1 Nephi 3:7). I've felt that
so many times on my mission as I've trusted God even when I feel inadequate. I
love you all, have a great week!
Love,

Hey
Everyone!
This week was so great! We got
in contact with Watanabe San again, and he came to church and a baptismal
service with us yesterday! He's doing really well. He wants to be baptized but
isn't very sure he'll be able to stop smoking. But he's praying every day to be
able to stop and we gave him a priesthood blessing so I think he'll be able to
stop. It may take some time but he can do it. We also had a 23 year old man
come to church yesterday because he saw the sign for English class in front of
our church. He looked it up and found out more about the Church and decided he
wanted to go. He seemed to enjoy it, he said he's going to come to English
class on Tuesday and church again next Sunday, and we gave him a Book of Mormon
and taught him about prayer and he said he likes reading so he might read the
whole Book of Mormon before Tuesday! I'm really excited to meet him again and
start teaching him.
We had some other great things
happen, we had another lesson that went well with Goto San, a member's husband,
and we met a lady on the street who said she'll come to church next Sunday. We
also have an appointment with the Yamada family next week, that's the family I
mentioned before where the dad has ALS. We're excited to meet with them again.
We're also building better relationships with members and the ward is becoming
more unified.
Also, we got transfer calls
this week and Elder Lalo and I are staying together in Shiroishi! We're both
way happy. But, a lot of the zones and districts changed so although we're in
the same area we're in a different district, the one with the zone leaders so
that'll be fun. Also, we went to the Snow festival last week! But I forgot to
get the pictures off my camera so I'll send them next week. I love you all! The
Church is true! Have a great week!
Love,

Hey
Everyone!
This week was amazing! We had
a lot of lessons and a lot of miracles, and it was really busy! We're working
with a lot of people which is great. Watanabe San, who has a baptismal date,
didn't come to church so we're going to have to push back his date again but
hopefully he'll be able to continue progressing. We haven't been able to
contact him in a few days so please pray for him. Kawamura also probably won't
be ready by this Saturday for his baptism so we're going to have to continue
working with him and help him keep the word of wisdom and be able to come to
church. But we had a great lesson with a member's husband, we got a referral
from the Toyohira elders this week, and we had a great lesson with the lady
whose grandson is serving as a missionary in Sendai so there's been a lot of
good happening too. We also did splits with the zone leaders and learned a ton
so I'm excited to apply things I learned in this area. And I think the best
thing that's happening right now is the ward is getting more excited about
missionary work, they're starting to care more about how the people we're
working with are doing and they're becoming more unified in trying to move the
work forward. I'm excited to see what greater miracles lie in store as the
whole ward gets involved. It's so much more powerful if we have 50 something
people doing missionary work than if it's just my companion and I. So help the
missionaries, invite your friends to learn about the gospel, do what you can to
move forward God's work! This church is true and it is the way to the happiness
that people are searching for. I'm so grateful that God gave us commandments to
help us avoid wrong choices and the pain the comes from them, and I'm so
grateful for the Atonement of Christ that allows us to get back on the path
when we stumble and fall. I want to share it with everyone!
We're going to the Snow
Festival today so I'll try and send a lot of pictures next week! Also this week
is transfers, I most likely will stay with Elder Lalo to finish training but
we'll see. I love you all, have a great week and Happy Valentine's Day!❤️
Love,
Elder
Burton
