Bunch of Burtons

Okay, so if you haven't heard yet you probably will soon enough on the news. There was a terrorist attack yesterday in Copenhagen and two people were killed. Something about a comic drawn like seven years ago. The church security called President Sederholm yesterday morning and he flew back to Denmark from Iceland. The church is taking precautions, missionaries in Copenhagen are having there district meetings in other cities and I believe they are being asked to come in earlier in the evening temporarily until things calm down. Kind of crazy, Denmark is the last place I would have expected a shooting.

Other than that though we have been having a great week here in Randers. With the areas combined we have so much work, and so many people to visit. We taught a total of 23 lessons this last week, something I've never done my whole mission. We have a lot of great people we're teaching. Another Gert, not the one I've previously mentioned. He has recently given up drinking and is progressing a tone with his goal to give up smoking. He had been smoking about 18 cigarettes a day, When we visited him yesterday he was averaging around 6 or 7. He plans to work his way off of them until the 21st of March when he plans to be completely done smoking.

We have an investigator from China named Mei. Over the last little while when teaching her she has always kind of had this joking attitude about anything that had to do with God. Yesterday we visited her and decided to just stick with Danish, she normally only speaks to us in English, and the lesson went amazing. The spirit was very strong, Mei was open and we could see she's been having a hard time recently with her x-husband and sons. We testified of God as her loving heavenly father. She hopes that its true, and now has a stronger desire to find out.

When visiting a member who ended up not being home, we stood by our bikes discussing our next plans when the members neighbor opened his door, and looked around expectantly. He saw us and waved us over saying "come on in". Confused, we followed him in. He said he was waiting for a friend and then asked us who we were. Right after introducing ourselves there was a knock on the door and it was the friend Alex was waiting for, Christopher. We sat and talked to them both a little bit. Alex it turns out already had a Book of Mormon. We talked with them for maybe 20 minutes about how God is our father and we taught how to pray. We were then able to set a return appointment with them for Friday

Great surprise Saturday when one of the senior couples called and said they were coming by with a package. I hadn't been expecting a valentines package. Thanks for the pants and bike lights! My last bike lights were just starting to have problems from all the salt that is spraying up on them, when the roads are salted for ice it doesn't have a good effect on anything mettle.

Quote of the week: "If you want to be a rebel, read the Bible"

I wish everyone a great week and a happy late valentines day!

Meget Kærlighed!

Elder Ken Burton
