Email February 23, 2015 – Elder Kenneth Wm. Burton

Bunch of Burtons

I was able to travel back to Roskilde on Saturday for the Pelargu families baptism! It was great to see them again, and to see the testimonies that they have grown. Filda, the mom, and the nine year old daughter Katia, both bore their testimonies after the baptism and the spirit was very strong. It was great, when Katia bore her testimony she basically said "The church is true, and all those who aren't members should be." So true! There are so many amazing blessings that come through the church of Jesus Christ and His gospel. The gift of the Holy Ghost that comes after one is baptized is an incredible gift, that we can have direct help and guidance from a member of the godhead. To enlighten our minds, to warn and inspire us.

The train ride to and back from the baptism was long, but it was worth it. I met up with Elder Eisert half way in Frederecia and we were able to spend a great day together. The Pelargu's baptism was the first full family baptism sense President Sederholm has presided over our mission. The work is accelerating and it is exciting to see lives changed through Christs gospel.

Gert hasn't smoked in the last week! He's doing great, I feel all that he needed was some encouragement from someone who cared. He's also found a lot of strength through prayer. I've come to learn that the things we surround ourselves with we become. Therefore it is critical that we keep the standards of Christ the basis by which we live our lives. "Environment is but his looking glass." We have control over what we surround ourselves with. Spiritually, mentally, and physically. And as we do so we are protected. "Its funny how some distance makes everything seem small, and the fears that once controlled me cant get to me at all."'-Else. We are not alone in this effort though. Gert's been praying for strength to overcome his addiction to smoking. Alma prayed for strength saying, "O Lord wilt thou grant unto me that I may have strength..." rather than asking for his circumstances to be changed he prayed for strength that he (Alma) might change his circumstances. Asking for Gods grace, that enabling power to act and overcome. To set "some distance" between ourselves and temptation.

Sorry this email is kind of short. Everything here is going great. Gus, you have a letter on the way! You came to mind so I thought I would send you something.

Meget Kærlighed!
