Goodbye
to the Thurgoods
It´s
been another great week! And kind of a sad one two because it was our last week
with President Thurgood and his wife. They leave tomorrow and we will recieve
our new president, President Calquin, from Chili. On Wednesday, president and
his wife came to our zone to say goodbye. We took pictures with them, they bore
to us their testimonies, and that was it. President just made it sweet and
simple which was good. But I´m really gonna miss them, they have both taught me
so much that I will take with me for the rest of my life. They are two of the
most humble people I have met, and so strong in the faith and knowledge of the
gospel. Both the missionaries and the people of argentina have been greatly
blessed by their service.
We
will meet President Calquin on wednesday when they come to our zone for a mini
zone conference. It should be awesome, I´m super excited to get to know him and
work with him. It´s pretty cool that I am able to have one year with both of my
presidents. I have and will learn a ton from two great men.

Bailing
Elders out of jail...
Well
I have to say that this was one of the more interesting weekends of my life. On
saturday moring during personal study we received a call from an elder in our
zone. In a paniked voice he quickly
explained to us that the sister missionaries in their ward had been robbed, his
companion arrested, and that he was now alone with the hermanas in his
apartment. Without asking many questions we hopped on the bikes and rode over
to where they were. In short this is what they told us:
That
morning the sisters had been out exersizing and ran into a drunk guy at a bus
stop. He pulled out a gun and began to rob them. One of the sisters saw an
opportunity and stole the gun from the robber and they began to run. Luckily
the robber was drunk and couldn´t keep up with them. The sisters ran to the
apartment of the elders in their ward but on the way a lady saw them runing
with a gun and called the police. While the elders called president and tried
to calm down the sisters they suddenly heard a lound bang on the door. They
imediatly jumped to the conclusion that it was the robber and the elderes went
into protective mode. One of them grabbed the gun that the sisters had taken
from the robber and opened the door to find about 15 police officers pointing thier
guns right at him. Of course the police officers saw the gun in the elders hand
and went kinda crazy. They threw him to the ground annd hancuffed him and
eveyone else in the apartment. When they realized that the missionaries weren´t
actually dangerous they let them all go except for the elder who had had the
gun. They arrested him and took him to the police station, leaving his
companion with the sisters.
Thats
when we got the call. We then spent the rest of the day calming them all down
and bailing the one elder out of jail. And that was our Saturday. I definitly
wasn´t expecting that when I woke up that morning. It was pretty crazy.
Other
than that it was a pretty normal week. We found one new investigator named
Tamara who is the friend of a recent convert. She´s super cool and has a lot of
desire to learn about the church because her friend has told her a lot about
it. Right now she´s not sure if she beleives in God but she wants to which is a
good start. We´ll see how things go.
So
that was my week. Thanks for everything, I hope everyone has a great week!!

Temple
visit with the zone!
Another
great week here in Banfeild! This week we had the awesome oportunity to have a
our last zone conference with President Thurgood and his wife. And we did it in
the temple! It was so nice to be able to attend a temple session and feel the
incredible spirit in that beautiful place. There is no bettter way to feel
close to God and Crist than going to the temple. We all left recharged with energy
to work hard and find the people who are waiting to recieve the gospel.
We
found a few new investigatores this week that are awesome! One couple, Isabel
and Carlos, are super awesome. They have taken the lessons before and remember
a ton. They hav read the whole book of mormon and really like it. The only hard
part with them is that Carlos loves to talk. Thats pretty normal here, but he
kinda takes it to a whole new level. So we just have to teahc them really
slowly cause we can´t fit to much in every lesson. But they´re great, it´ll be
good to work with them.
I
don´t really have much to write today, it was a week full of miles in the
street talking to lots of new people. Should result for a good week this week,
we´ll see how things go. Thanks for all of your support and prayers, I love you
all. Have a good week!

New area, new people
I´ve now had one
week here in Banfield 2b and wow, it is so different than any area that I´ve had
so far. But it´s awesome, I love it! As I said before, this area is the
richest, nicest area in the mission. That being said, it´s totally different.
In my last area we averaged probably fifteen lessons a week more or less. This
week we had three lessons. Pretty big difference, but it´s cool cause it means
we contact a ton more people. And here you have to contact really well cause
the people are really well educated and have pretty deep questions and comments
sometimes. It´s pretty fun :)
One of the weirdest
parts about this area is that everyone thinks that we are robbers, it´s kinda
sad haha. Last night we were knocking a few doors looking for an old
investigator and one of the people we talked to got super suspicious and
started following us. We´re pretty sure he called the police. Kinda crazy :)
The other day we
were walking down the street and we saw a house with a sign in front that said
"happiness" in english. We decided that was a good sign and so we
rang the door bell. A lady came out and recognized us imediately as mormons and
told us that she has a instagram friend who is from Utah and told her a little
bit about the mormons. She let us come in for a drink and we talked for a bit.
She was super nice but unfortunately said she doesn´t beleive in anything and
doesn´t want to talk about religion. But we might end up going by again
sometime to try to teach her and her family something. Just a good person who
needs the gospel and doesnt know it.
It was a weird,
super different week, but it was awesome! I´m excited to be here and learn from
this área. Should be super fun. Thanks for everything, I hope everyone has a
great week!
