Hey
Everyone!
It's only been a few days since I
last emailed, but it's been great! We had zone conference on Friday and it was
so awesome! We talked about using our time more efficiently and how to set
baptismal dates more quickly. We also talked about working with members more
which is super important, and I feel like although I've been doing better, I
can still improve a lot in that area. On Sunday we had ward council, and the
Sakurai's who are from a different part of Japan attended and talked about
getting the ward more involved in missionary work. They said this past Sunday
their home ward had five baptisms, all of them member referrals! And their home
ward isn't much bigger than Shiroishi. They talked about setting a good goal
for baptisms as a ward for the year and making sure all the members know about
it and are involved, and I think it helped give the ward leaders more hope that
this ward can grow, it's been about the same for a long time. So I'm excited to
work more with the members and see miracles happen!

Hey Everyone!
This week was great! On last Wednesday we met a 24 year old man named Watanabe San on the street and set an appointment for that Friday. On Friday I went on splits with Elder Smith, who got to Japan at the same time as me and is an awesome missionary, and at the lesson with Watanabe San we were able to set a baptismal date for February 16th! That was the first time I've set a baptismal date on the first lesson, it was really cool. He said he was thinking about Christianity and wondering why it's in movies and stuff and right then is when we stopped him on the street so he decided to listen. And he's progressing really well, he didn't go to church last week but we met him on Tuesday and I think he'll come this week. He's also coming to a baptismal service in another area with us on Saturday! So please keep him in your prayers!

Hey
Everyone!
This week was so great! We had a New
Year's party with the ward today so I don't have a lot of time, I'll just share
a couple exciting things this week. A fee week weeks ago Elder Minegishi and I
met a college student named Yuuki on the street and set up an appointment to
meet on the 9th, but his phone wasn't working so we didn't get his contact
information. A lot of times when that happens the person just doesn't show up
and there's nothing you can do, but on Wednesday he came to the appointment! We
had a great lesson and he's going to come to church on the 20th! It was cool to
see how excited Elder Lalo was after the lesson, it kind of reminded me not to
take moments like that for granted and how important it is to believe in your
the people you teach. Sometimes you get used to things or you don't want to get
your hopes up too high but for him it's new and exciting and there's no reason
to doubt that Yuuki will continue progressing and get baptized. I want to raise
my hope back to the level of a new missionary. It really was a miracle.

Hey
Everyone!
This week was crazy! On Wednesday
morning I got a call saying I'm becoming a trainer! My new companion is Elder
Lalo from the Philippines! He's only the second Philippine elder to come to
this mission. He's so awesome! He has great love for the Lord and the gospel
and he learns really quickly. He already speaks both Tagalog and English and
now he's learning Japanese and he's really good for having just started a few
months ago. He's also a really good sport when it comes to the cold and snow,
he doesn't complain at all even though he's from a place where it's hot year
round. He said he actually fasted to be called to somewhere safe, clean, and
cold. Hokkaido is literally the best fit in the world, God really does answer
prayers. What's funny is I predicted becoming his companion a few months ago.
After he got his call he looked up the Japan Sapporo Mission on Facebook and
friended a bunch of the missionaries. When I got his friend request and saw
that he was going to be coming to the mission in a couple months I thought that
maybe I would be his trainer, and I'm so glad it actually happened!
