March 23, 2015 – Elder Kenneth Wm. Burton

of Burtons
Well,
I'll be staying here in Randers for at least another six weeks. Elder Perry, my
new companion just transferred here from Holbæk. He's only got two transfers
left of his mission. We had a crazy experience this morning. I had taken a
train to Aarhus where I waited with the missionaries there for Elder Perry, but
he was on a different train than we expected and continued on to Randers
without me. After he arrived he found a phone and we got word of where he was,
so I was able to jump on the next train, a 40 minute ride alone, back to
Randers. That was a very weird 40 minutes. It seems like something crazy always
happens on transfer day.
We
had a neat opportunity on Thursday to receive our transfer calls in person with
President Sederholm rather than just over the phone. At the end of our zone
conference President went through all the missionaries telling us where we will
be serving and asking if we would accept the call.
We
also got to watch Meet the Mormons for the first time! The assistance told us we
had to watch a driver safety video as a mission and then we would discuss it
after wards. Turns out it was Meet the Mormons. Great movie.
Oooh,
and the lunch was great as well! Funeral potatoes danish styled. So basically
straight cream and a lot more unhealthy. They had this amazing honey roasted
ham as well. It was all around a great zone conference. Both of the Jydland
zones were there, it was great to see everyone again.
Familien
Rasumussen, the ones Erik knows, are doing great. We taught the restoration of
the gospel and they were very open to it. They loved the Joseph Smith story and
are excited to read the Book of Mormon. They weren't able to come to church,
but we're working towards that.
We
taught a few students, who are studying the church for a school project.
Unfortunately they didn't come to church like they said they would.
We've
found some new investigators the last few weeks, which is exciting to see.
The
church is starting a new initiative beginning on March 27th. Similar to the He
is the Gift campaign. This one is called Because He Lives and will be going
through the rest of the year. YouTube homepage is being bought out again on
Easter, and from the 27th of March on they will be releasing new videos
focusing on Christ as the living Savior, and how he is continually helping us
today. Jesus Christ lived and died for us, He was a perfect example for us
while He was here on the earth. But it did not end with His death. He lives! Even
now. That we will also rise again. That he might be our strength when we have
none else. That we might overcome the obstacles in life with hope in peace. I
love the words of the hymn and use them as my own when I say "I know that
my Redeemer lives!"
Og
det sige jeg med meget kærlighed!
