Well,
lets see... This last week we've been helping this man named Mehmet find an
apartment, we contacted him on the street, his wife has kicked him out so he
has no where to live right now. We met him at his friends pizza shop and were
given a free pizza for our service! That makes two free pizzas this week. The
other was when we were riding our bikes home for dinner one evening a member
saw us while walking her dog so she called us to say she was craving pizza and
was to lazy to go out and get it herself. She told us to buy three large pizzas
and we could keep one for ourselves. People don't normally buy that much pizza
here, totally an American thing, she's from Texas so it makes sense.
We
finally got into contact with Britte! About a month ago we had tried to set a
baptismal date with her for the 14th of March, but she hadn't been very sure
about it and wanted to pray about it on her own. Then at Stake Conference some
members brought her and we found out she was working for the 14th, only two
weeks away. This last week we had stopped by or called Britte at least every
day but couldn't get into contact with her until she came to church yesterday.
Because she's feeling a little stressed out about her baptism being so soon
without much preparation, we're going to move it back a couple of weeks. She's
agreed though to daily contact to help prepare her and help her receive the
answer that she's looking for.
We
spent Saturday evening with Joachim our branch mission leader. He drove us up
to some outer towns in our area to try meeting with a referral and a few other
old investigators. Unfortunately no one was home, kind of weird for a Saturday
evening, you'd think at least one of them would have been there. Joachim took
us out to dinner at this neat little restaurant that had once been the base of
Danish resistance group called Hvidsten (White stone), during world war 2. This
small town is right between two larger cities where many German troops would
travel between, giving the Hvidsten group a great position to attack. They
would receive supplies from the English, who would fly over and drop packages
in the fields nearby.
I
was given a great gift by Simon, a member, the husband to the woman who wanted
the pizza, he had found these USB Flashdrives online for only 8 dollars with
64GB of memory, he gave me one that he hasn't used yet and ordered one for
Elder Sakurada. We're guessing it's more likely for me to transfer in two weeks
than he is. Now I have something to back up all my photos with an not worry
about using to much memory space.
Reading
in Moroni 10, I came across an interesting principle. "For if there be one
among you that doeth good, he shall work by the power and gifts of God."
(Moroni 10:25)
"Yea,
come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all
ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God
with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you,
that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are
perfected in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God." (Moroni
10:32)
We
do good only through the grace and power of God, and it is as we do good that
we see and recognize his power in our lives.
Oh!
sorry, we've got to go, We're in Aarhus right now and Elder Sakurada has his
Biometrics test in 20 minutes so he will get his visa extention.
Meget
Kærlighed,
Elder
Ken Burton
