Baptism!

Hey Everyone!
This week was crazy! I got my transfer call on Wednesday night, and on Thursday morning, I got on the bus to Kushiro! So I'm in Kushiro now, it's about a 5 hour bus ride from Sapporo, and it's almost the easternmost area in Japan. The congregation here is a branch, but it's a pretty strong branch by Hokkaido standards, it's got almost as many members as my last ward and there's a good amount of young people which is fun. My new companion is Elder West! He's from Oregon and he came to the mission at the same as me. I've gone on exchanges with him before so I'm excited for the chance to be companions with him. I was little sad to be transferring because there are a couple people getting baptized soon in Shiroishi and I wanted to see their baptisms, but I've been very blessed because we had a baptism in Kushiro on Saturday! I didn't teach him at all but it was still fun to be a part of it. I got to help plan the baptism and get to know Tamura Kyoudai, the one who got baptized, it was great. His brother is actually a member in Hakodate, which is one of my past areas, and he came to baptize his brother so it was fun to see him again. We also have a couple of other people here with baptismal dates so we're pretty busy.

Hey Everyone!
This week was great! We have two people we're teaching with baptismal dates, Watanabe San and Fujii San, and they both came to church yesterday! They're also coming with us to the McClure's FHE tonight. We also went on exchanges twice again this week and I learned a lot from both Elder Tablizo and Elder Saito. Elder Tablizo is from the Philippines, and Elder Saito is from Tokyo, they're both awesome missionaries. We also went to a culture night they had in Toyohira with Watanabe San. It was raining but Watanabe San was still willing to bike there with us, he's awesome! It also snowed the next few days, we thought winter was over but it's putting up a fight before getting overcome by spring. Also, I'm almost for sure transferring on Thursday, I'm so sad to be leaving Shiroishi! I've been here for almost 6 months and I've seen great changes both in myself and the ward during the time I've been here. I'll also miss Elder Lalo, he's been the best Bean I could've hoped for. He's gonna go on to be an incredible missionary. I've learned a lot from him about humility, kindness, and love, I hope to be able to apply those things in my next area, wherever it is. Anyway, that's all for this week. I love you all! Have a great week!

Love,
Elder Burton

Hey Everyone!
This week was great! On Saturday we had a lesson with a lady named Fujii San who was a referral from the Moiwa sisters, so we did the lesson with them, and it went really well! We set a baptismal date for April 13! She's very prepared and we're excited to continue teaching her.
We also went on exchanges twice this week, I got to go with Elder Gonzalez, who came to the mission at the same time as me, and Elder Beus, one of our zone leaders, and I learned a ton from both of them. I love training but it's always good to be with someone who has more experience once in a while.

Hey Everyone!
This week was great! On Thursday we had zone conference and it was so awesome! It was one of the best zone conferences I've had on my mission. President McClure talked about the symbolism of the tabernacle Israel used in the wilderness and connected it to a person's progress through this life to return to the presence of God. As missionaries, our purpose is to help people prepare to return to God's presence, and there are certain things they have to do to prepare for that, which includes faith, repentance, baptism, and receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost. It really reminded me of the importance of this gospel and increased my drive to share it with others. I also got some ideas about how to help a few of the people we're teaching which was great.
Speaking of people we're teaching, Watanabe San still hasn't been able to quit smoking yet so we're still working with him. But we've been getting help from ward members and other missionaries with ideas for how to help him so hopefully he'll be able to stop soon. We've had a few other lessons this week but nothing too exciting. We weren't able to meet with most of the people we're working with last week but this week hopefully they'll continue progressing. Later today we're meeting with a person who some other missionaries found through Facebook, if it goes well I'll let you know next week!
That's about it for now, sorry it's short today. I know this church is true, and I know it's the only way to get back to God and live with our families forever. I'm so grateful to have this knowledge! I love you all! Have a great week!

Hey Everyone!
Today was temple P-day, that's why this is a little late, but as usual the temple was amazing! We also had interviews with President McClure which was great. Tomorrow we have zone conference which I'm really excited about.
Watanabe San did come to church on Sunday which was great but he still hasn't stopped smoking yet so he's not going to make his baptismal date this Saturday. But he's still doing well, he has a desire to follow God, he just has to take that leap of faith and stop smoking. Hopefully it will happen next week. He's been able to build good relationships with members which is really good, once he gets baptized that'll help him feel more at home in the church.
